UP Manila Oblation Run Declared New National Sport

Students Protest Corruption by Running Naked Through Campus

Manila — Naked Sprinting For Social Justice

This week, University of the Philippines Manila students staged the annual Oblation Run not just as a protest against corruption, but as a full-blown audition for the next Olympics category: Naked Sprinting for Social Justice. Eyewitnesses report that the protesters, clad only in conviction and questionable body paint, ran across campus faster than corruption scandals can proliferate.

“People keep telling us to strip back corruption,” said one student mid-dash, arms windmilling like he was flying. “We said, fine, we’ll literally strip.” Traffic enforcers on EDSA reported minor delays as drivers slowed to cheer—or possibly to ogle—causing a ripple effect that brought about all three categories of chaos: joggers doing tai chi in the emergency lane, a bus driver teaching students how to honk in solidarity, and one stunned carabao contemplating retirement.

University administrators issued a statement: “While we do not officially condone nudity, we also cannot officially deny that it was quite aerodynamic.” For a more serious take (though fewer clothes), see the original Interaksyon story here.
