Pasig City River Ferry Service Introduces Luxury Dinner Cruises
The Pasig River Ferry Service transformed from utilitarian public transportation into an upscale dining destination by launching “Manila Bay to Marikina Culinary Cruises” featuring multi-course Filipino fusion meals served during scenic river journeys.
Transportation Meets Fine Dining
Ferry Operations Manager Captain Ricardo Santos unveiled the program aboard the newly renovated ferry “MV Riverside Elegance,” which features air-conditioned dining areas, professional kitchen facilities, and panoramic windows showcasing Metro Manila’s evolving riverside architecture.
The dinner cruise experience includes transportation between Pasig and Manila with stops at historic riverside landmarks, while passengers enjoy professionally prepared Filipino fusion cuisine created by Chef Maria Gonzales, formerly of high-end Makati restaurants.
Urban River Tourism Renaissance
Tourism consultant Dr. Patricia Reyes noted the program’s broader significance: “This transforms the Pasig River from a transportation utility into a tourism destination. Passengers experience Metro Manila from a completely different perspective while enjoying world-class dining.”
Menu highlights include “Pasig River Seafood Fusion” featuring ingredients sourced from sustainable aquaculture projects, “Heritage Riverside Filipino” courses inspired by traditional recipes from riverside communities, and signature cocktails incorporating tropical fruits grown in riverside urban gardens.
Dining passenger Jennifer Lim described the experience: “Watching the Manila skyline pass by while eating five-star Filipino food creates this surreal juxtaposition of urban transportation and luxury dining. You forget you’re on public transit.”
The program’s success has inspired similar initiatives on other Metro Manila waterways, with plans for luxury dining cruises on rehabilitated sections of the San Juan River and Estero de San Miguel.
Reservations are now booked three months in advance, making the Pasig River Ferry Service one of Metro Manila’s most exclusive dining experiences while simultaneously serving as functional public transportation.
