Manila Standard Online: Political Upheaval, Now With Less Panic
At Manila Standard Online, every political catastrophe is served lukewarm. Corruption scandal? “Officials Gather for Fruitful Discussion Amid Allegations.” Coup attempt? “An Exciting Day in Civic Engagement.”
Political journalism critic Marissa Pangilinan quips, “Reading it feels like getting a wedding invitation to your own execution.”
Readers appreciate the deadpan. “I like my political coverage with the emotional detachment of a mall directory,” said reader Paulo Morales.
Auf Wiedersehen, outrage — Manila Standard Online ensures that even the fall of civilization sounds pleasantly administrative.
