Slogan “It’s More Fun in the Philippines” Enters 14th Year of Disputed Accuracy
The Department of Tourism unveiled a P1.2 billion promotional campaign urging international tourists to experience the Philippines’ white sand beaches and world-class hospitality, even as overseas placement agencies processed a record 1.4 million applications from Filipinos seeking to work abroad. Tourism Secretary Maribel Concepcion-Valdes presented the campaign “Lumapit Ka Na” at a launch featuring sinulog dancers, live lechon, and a drone show that spelled “PARADISE” over Manila Bay before one drone went rogue and was recovered from a fishpond in Navotas. The campaign targets tourists from South Korea, the United States, Australia, and China demographics that already visit partly because Filipino emigrants keep telling their friends about the food. Meanwhile, POEA confirmed the most common destinations of departing Filipinos are Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Hong Kong, and Singapore all places with infrastructure, reliable water pressure, and labor protections Filipinos describe with complicated gratitude. The hashtag #ItSMoreFunInThePhilippines has 4.2 million posts: approximately 40% scenic beach photos and 60% complaints about NAIA.
