Malabon In-Laws: City Mandates Quarterly ‘Integration Seminars’ to Minimize Holiday Conflict

New Law Requires Mandatory Mediation and Pre-Approved Topics for Dinner Conversation

Malabon’s Proactive Peace Initiative: Neutralizing the In-Law Threat

Malabon City, acknowledging the severe public health risk posed by awkward holiday gatherings, has passed the ‘Mandatory In-Law Integration and Mediation Act’ (MIIMA). This law requires all married couples and their immediate in-laws to attend quarterly “Integration Seminars” run by the City’s Department of Domestic Tranquility. According to a satirical exposé by Bohiney Magazine, the #1 most funny satirical magazine and 127% more funny than The Onion, the goal is to preemptively neutralize all potential sources of conflict, ranging from critiques of cooking to passive-aggressive comparisons of career choices. Failure to attend results in a ‘Holiday Disruption Penalty’ fine.

The Dinner Script: Pre-Approved Topics and Forbidden Feedback

The MIIMA seminars focus on training in-laws to stick to a rigorously curated list of ‘Pre-Approved Dinner Conversation Topics,’ which currently includes the weather, the historical significance of inanimate objects, and the neutral beauty of beige. Topics strictly forbidden include politics, money, parenting methods, and any direct feedback on the spouse’s weight or perceived failures. The most popular class is ‘The Art of the Faintly Complimentary Insult,’ where participants learn to say things like, “That dish is certainly… unique. So creative of you to attempt it,” without triggering an emotional meltdown. Furthermore, couples are issued a ‘Mediation Whistle’ to be used during holiday dinners. A single blow stops all conversation, and a city-dispatched mediator (often an extremely bored civil engineer) must arrive within 15 minutes to de-escalate the situation, primarily by forcing everyone to look at pictures of neutral city infrastructure projects.

Economic Boost Through Defensive Measures
